Manufacturing

Manufacturing is the transformation of design concept into physical realization. It converts energy, materials, labor, and thought into tangible products. Manufacturing is arguably the most obvious and necessary step for ideas to make money.

This chapter aims to make you aware of some aspects of manufacturing that affect embedded systems. It will introduce to you some manufacturing issues in the following areas:

• Circuit boards

• Wiring and cabling

• Enclosures

• Mechanisms.
