A Short History of Family Business

In the beginning there was difference. And then there was light. And then, after a long while there were Homo Sapiens. The early Homo Sapiens were hunter-gatherers, constantly on the move to find edible crops and prey. Gathering crops was mostly reserved for the female members of the clan whereas the – allegedly – stronger male clan members mostly did the hunting. This forced them to operate separately and in small units. Learning new skills and obtaining novel knowledge was kept to that small unit, a clan, so the progress of learning was difficult and slow.
