Introduction

ASP.NET enables the creation of Web sites and XML Web services and is a core element of the .NET Framework, Microsoft’s new application development platform. Based on an extensible component-based architecture, ASP.NET provides an approach to building dynamic Web applications that is radically simpler yet more powerful than its predecessor, Active Server Pages.
