Chapter 20 discusses the typical characteristics, features, and issues with realtime operating systems (RTOSs). This appendix includes a list of questions to consider when choosing an RTOS for inclusion in a safety-critical system (as with other parts of this book, it is assumed that DO-178B or DO-178C is required).
