WCF lets developers build service-oriented applications on the Windows platform using a unified programming model. You can use the same service-oriented programming model with WCF to develop outward-facing Web service applications, intranet Web services, peer-to-peer intranet applications, or server-to-server distributed applications. The WCF programming model is flexible because it provides a layered approach to services, based on channels, bindings, contracts, endpoints, and behaviors.
