DevOps was born of the Agile movement. In fact before Andrew Clay Shafer and Patrick Dubois decided on the term DevOps, Shafer preferred “agile project management” — a bit of a mouthful. (Shh! Don’t tell Andrew I said that.)

Because you're reading this book, you’re likely somewhat familiar with the Agile style of product management. You can think of DevOps as an evolution of Agile. It is an iterative process that allows you to plan, develop, and release code quickly.
