Along with DNS, email is one of the oldest and most widely used services on the Internet. Unlike DNS, most people use email directly and frequently and are aware when there’s a problem. No matter what role you have on a DevOps team, if you are responsible for email service in any capacity, whether as the administrator in charge of the email server, the go-to tech guy at an office, a developer adding email support to an application, or just a regular email user yourself, eventually you will have to answer one of the following questions:
