Consulting collaboratively can be a highly unstructured process in which the consultant essentially joins into the flow of organizing, as described in Chapters 7 and 17, without much negotiating of roles or processes. More often, it is a form of collective inquiry that foregrounds the role of conversation in articulating a focus for inquiry, designing a process to create new frameworks for meaning and action, contemplating one’s experience, and determining what steps need to be taken in the future.
