Over time, the team's relationships and trust grew stronger and so did their bonds. The thought of leaving the company was no longer a question. Everyone stayed through the product launch, which occurred on the 80th day after Ruth's defining meeting with the board.
It was a huge success in the marketplace and everyone in the industry took notice. The board was beyond ecstatic. The team felt an immense amount of pride in their accomplishment. Ruth was thankful for everything and everyone that had brought her to this moment.
On the 90th day she celebrated with her team at her favorite restaurant, which she rented out for the occasion.
On the 111th day BBDI sold for almost twice the board's target sale price. It wasn't a decision she made alone. Of course, the board advocated for the sale of the company, but so did the leadership team. Ruth told them she wouldn't sell the company without their blessing, and they all supported her decision to accept an offer that was too good to refuse.
On the day of the sale, Ruth was not as happy as she thought she would be. She had conflicting emotions. She had achieved a professional feat and a financial victory most people only dream of, and yet she was sad that it meant the journey with her team was over. It's a strange feeling to get everything you've ever wanted and not be satisfied, she thought. She knew there was something else she needed to do but wasn't quite sure what it was.
