15. Clear Gelatin Transfer to Plastic Sheet

In this project, you’ll create a translucent panel by transferring a digital image to a thick sheet of clear acrylic, polycarbonate, or Plexiglas. I use this process to create images with both a virtual and physical sense of depth. I’ll create my image in Photoshop, using many different layers. Then I’ll print the composite image and do a single transfer to a sheet of plastic. Or, I might split the image and print part of it on regular inkjet paper to place behind the plastic sheet.
