Audio acoustics
Introduction
Acoustics is the science of physics relating to sound, and as would be expected, there are several areas in which it can be applied to forensics. As this book primarily pertains to the digital aspects of audio forensics, only a brief overview of the primary acoustic topics and their application to audio forensics will be provided. The perception of sound is not within the immediate scope of the work performed by a digital forensic audio examiner (for example, opining on whether an individual is likely to have heard a specific sound or not), so will not be considered in any form.
