18 Epilogue

In the 15 months it has taken to write this book, much has changed in digital photography. Cameras have grown to five and six million pixels and beyond; Contax, Canon and Kodak have all launched a full-frame 35 mm digital camera; Foveon has unveiled a new form of imaging chip; SmartMedia cards have been marked for death; prices have fallen; ease of use has grown and the signs have continued to suggest that digital photography will eventually break free of the home computer – just as film became liberated from the home darkroom.
