High-definition image capture
For some years in the USA, Australia and Japan it has been possible to shoot in a high-definition television format. The image is scanned in a 60 Hz interlace format and this produces a recording system referred to as 60i. The 60 Hz interlace format produces an image of exceptionally high picture quality and because it uses the same scanning rate and style as the standard format NTSC transmission system is easily down-converted into standard NTSC. It is, however, difficult to convert a 60i picture into PAL or SECAM, the transmission systems used in Europe.
