COMBINATIONAL LOGIC CIRCUITS
COMBINATIONAL CIRCUITS
Digital logic circuits can be classified into “combinational” and “sequential.” A combinational logic circuit is one whose output solely depends on its current inputs. Sequential circuits, on the other hand, are built using combinational circuit and memory elements called “flip-flops”. These circuits generate output which depends on the current and previous states. Some examples of sequential circuits are counters and shift registers. Another major difference between the combinational and sequential circuits is the feedback mechanism. A number of logic gates and inverters are used in the combinational circuit but without feedback loops. The feedback loop is a connection through which a part ...
