Time-code on Film, Computerized Cameras, Motion-control, and Pre-editorial during Production

Digital processes are being introduced to the production stage of filmmaking. Generally, the capture of images has remained unchanged through the years— light enters through a lens and strikes a piece of film negative that is moving through the camera at 24 fps. One of the earliest developments where technology has changed image capture is in the application of timecode to the negative during shooting.
