Chapter 3. ESSENTIALS OF IR COMPOSITION

This chapter covers essential techniques to use to get the best possible IR results. I discuss the compositional differences between IR and color photography and how subject placement can make the difference between average and excellent images.

You will learn how lines, shapes, and patterns add interest to an otherwise ordinary image, and when to use them to bend or break the traditional rules of composition.

I also cover the importance of color in IR photography, and when and how to use it to your advantage. With these tips, you will be able to infuse mood, emotion, and creativity into your IR photography. You will also learn how lens choice and personal style impact your image composition.

Armed with this information, you will be ready to go out and have fun photographing in IR.
