Digital transformation isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon journey.
Digital isn't new; we've all been on the journey for years. What is new, however, is the urgency to embrace the digital platform as a pathway to disrupt for business survival.
To lay out the road map for a company's transformation—the DOM playbook—first requires an assessment of where a company is today on its journey to digital maturity and the possibilities for the future. Taking another tack, the assessment is about identifying the pain points for your company, its people, and its customers whether related to culture, platform, or innovation.
Over time businesses accumulate “fat” in their organization—processes that are obsolete but still used—or even poor data that lacks consistency and does little more than clog the systems and experiences. For example, some companies still require a customer to submit a voided check to set up automatic payments instead of authenticating a user with their bank account or using approved payment platforms.
Those inefficiencies need to be cleaned up so that data/processes can flow smoothly for your people and your customers. Then it's possible to recognize what is required to help your company move forward on its digital journey, and determine step-by-step how to develop the framework to get there.
