Purpose: To Demonstrate How Increasing Focal Length Compresses the Scale between Foreground and Background Objects.
Part 1—Using a Foot Zoom
Foot zooming is when you walk closer or further from the subject without changing focal lengths. Doing so causes a change in both vantage point and point of view. This is the way photos and movies were made before zoom lenses came of age.
When you use a foot zoom, foreground and background elements maintain the same relative size and spatial relationship to one another.
