Chapter 2 Overview

This chapter looks at methods used to capture digital images and how these pictures are used. We begin with a discussion of the basics of the camera and the types of cameras that are used in digital capture. There are three basic ways to acquire an image in the digital environment. The most direct is the use of a camera; however, images can also be acquired by scanning already existing print or film images, and images can also be taken from resident computer-based images.
