Photography as a connective interface

A few months back I went to a restaurant in London with some friends. The restaurant was a trendy Mexican place in Soho, with colourful walls and tables. We had a lovely dinner and, while we were eating, we noticed how normal it was, for the rest of our fellow diners (and us), to use photography as part of the commensal practices. Some people took photos of the food and posted them on Instagram, I took a photo of the menu to send it to a friend in Mexico and a couple of enthusiastic young women did some ‘duckface’ selfies and shared them on Facebook.
