Appendix: Product Design Research
In Chapter 4, “Analyzing and Prioritizing Enhancements,” I referred to Universal Methods of Design, Bella Martin and Bruce Hanington’s excellent book about product design research, which highlights 100 approaches to researching product problems, ideas, and solutions. I’ve used several of the ideas described in the book in my own design and management work over the years. Here are a few that I’d recommend most.
