Unlike print books and magazines, which tend to have a constant page size from one copy to another, digital publications can morph from one size to another depending on the device the reader is using.

Consider the different sizes of iPads, Kindle Fires, Nooks, Android tablets, and smartphones. Each one needs its own layout size. To add to those sizes, those devices may allow the reader to rotate the device from vertical to horizontal layout.
