TRAFFIC CAPACITY CALCULATIONS

Digital signage systems involve real-time as well as near-real-time and non-real-time applications. As a result, calculating the capacity required in such a system means taking several things into account.

CALCULATING THE MINIMUM BITRATE

The maximum transfer time allowed for content is the variable that determines the minimum bitrate. Normally, it is not possible to buy a variable bitrate, so the minimum bitrate has to be selected prior to installation.

First, figure out the amount of content to be updated in each media player each day. How many files need to be updated and what are their sizes? Summing up the files to be updated each day gives a hint of an average bitrate that could do the job in 24 ...
