Although some of these terms are not considered specifically relevant, and some are not specifically mentioned in the book, their use will at least occasionally arise in the context of understanding digital signage. It is worth noting that many of the terms overlap the bigger TV and telecom industries, indicating how digital signage has become such a part of those industries and is expected to continue doing so.

Activation: A decision made by a consumer at the point of purchase, to pur- chase a product or service that has been influenced by such factors as price, pro- motion, convenience, or impulse.
