Known as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, or OFDM, it utilizes a completely different technology than 3G. OFDM has also been used in broadcast systems and for wireless LAN (Wi-Fi). These systems are point-to-multipoint systems. In the case of broadcast, it was basically one-way transmission.
