If you want the best quality, the most flexibility, and the greatest range of creative control over your photos, you’ve come to the right chapter. Digital SLR cameras have an industrial-strength image quality option called RAW (in addition to several types and sizes of JPEG, the standard photo file).
The raw file has data from the camera’s sensor that hasn’t been messed with yet. Raw images are, in essence, unfinished (hence the name). The tradeoff to having the highest quality is that someone has to finish them. That someone is you.
