You might not know it, but your dSLR makes a pretty good high-definition (HD) movie camera. It’s got a larger sensor than compact cameras, you can set it up and customize it to match different conditions, it has decent ISO performance (see Book III, Chapter 3), and uses interchangeable lenses. In other words, most of the reasons it takes great photographs are the same reasons it can make quality movies.

Making movies is different enough from taking photos to warrant a separate minibook. There’s format and size to consider, as well as audio, external microphone (or not), and transitioning to capturing continuous action.
