The introduction of new technology in the 21st century is impacting on many different areas of our lives and is developing at such a rapid pace that it is sometimes difficult to keep up. For the new “digital generation” who are growing up with technology, it has become second nature. But for the designer rooted in traditional processes, it is no longer possible to ignore these new developments in technology. Some see it as a challenge to introduce these new methods into their work, while others are fiercely protective of their tradition and craft.
