Abstract

Smart houses have been reimagined in the last decade by the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT). The development of intelligent and networked home settings has been accelerated by the integration of everyday objects, appliances, and devices. In the context of highly technological homes, this study aims to provide a comprehensive review of the IoT’s applications, challenges, and future advancements. This chapter discusses about the many Internet of Things (IoT) devices and sensors used for home automation, energy management, security, and healthcare. This article delves into the topic of Internet of Things ecosystems in smart homes, including topics such as communication protocols, data analytics, and machine learning methodologies. In addition, the paper delves into the major concerns related to energy efficiency, privacy, security, and interoperability, while also showcasing the current solutions and standards in the works.
