Understanding Networks and Networked Video

Abstract

This chapter provides insight into the nuisances involved in designing an IP network for synchronous security video. The chapter first describes the hardware components, their place in the network, and best practices for deployment. This chapter also provides detail on fiber optics, transmission protocols, and methods of transport as well as how to troubleshoot networked video.
