Building and Marketing a Website

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Establishing a solid online presence is the number one way photographers bring in business in today’s digital age. Whether you meet people through social media outlets or in person, if they’re interested in your services, they’ll be looking for your website so they can find out more about what you do, how you do it, and how much you charge. So having a good website is a big priority for the wedding photographer.

In the following sections, I go over a few important aspects of building and marketing a website, such as purchasing a domain name and hosting account, a few tips on web design, and how to use SEO to increase traffic to your site.

Knowing where to start

If you’re anything like me, the thought of building a website was a little overwhelming. I had no experience in web design, nor did I have the budget to hire someone to do it for me. For those of you who find yourself in the same boat, the following list gives a brief overview of what you need to do to start the process:
