EDITING BEGINS: GETTING TO KNOW THE FOOTAGE
TRANSFERRING, LOGGING, AND ORGANIZING FOOTAGE
In postproduction, organization is critical. The editor and, if you have them, assistant editors receive footage in digital form. If the shooting format was digital, they receive footage straight from the camera on recording media like SSD, P2 or SxS cards. If the shooting was done on film, they’ll receive the footage from the lab after the film has been processed and transferred to a digital format (usually HDCAM or DVCPRO HD).
