CHAPTER 3 Defining the Tools and Craft

Where the first couple of chapters have been more focused on listening to the head, this chapter will start to touch on topics near and dear to the heart and gut of animation, which means it is time to talk about art and the creative process. And while this section is specifically going to focus on the tools available to create animation, I want to start with my definition of art, as that will certainly give you insight into how I approach and think about the creative process.

The best definition of art I have come to accept is:

Art is communicating an idea with creative intent.

And the word intent is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in that sentence, as I like to illustrate ...
