7 Filming dance
Filming dance is rightly considered a specialist area yet it need hold no terrors as long as the director takes on board some basic techniques.
Filming dance with a single camera must be done to playback. Nowadays the supreme accuracy of the DAT audio players makes this much less complicated than of old. Even so, you need to have a playback master with time code prepared in advance of the shoot. If you are shooting ‘beta’ then this time code should be fed into the camera at the time of the shoot. The pictures will then automatically synch themselves up to the transferred master when you come to edit.
