Abstract

Chapter 3 focuses on the analog-to-digital conversion of unique cultural heritage materials. It examines the reasons and strategies for undertaking digitization initiatives by libraries, archives, and museums and provides an overview of the process of converting analog information resources into the digital format. Furthermore, it makes a distinction between static and time-based media and discusses the general guidelines for their conversion and the steps in the digitization cycle.
