Objective

To explore lighting for dance and song.

Setting

The stage is bare with an option of neutral masking or a sky cloth at the back (Figure P.9). The acting area, as indicated by the broken line, should be raised on low (e.g. 150 mm or 6 in) rostra, if available, and could be painted. If painted specially, use plain white, then add a spatter of various colours after several lighting designers have attempted the project.

Rig

There are 12 lights as shown and a further 8 may be used: if possible, the available choices should include parcans. (These numbers do not include three-colour floodlighting which should be made available for a sky cloth, if used.)
