5.5.2.3 Inverter
A FC generates DC voltage, so the voltage must be changed to AC except when it is used for DC applications such as in telecommunication stations, which need a DC voltage except in the lightening. The inverter converts the DC to AC power. Based on the application, importance, and cost of a project, there are different topologies for the inverter. Due to this fact, any of the following can be applied in the inverter: a bipolar junction transistor (BJT), a metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET), a static induction transistor (SIT), a MOS-controlled thyristor (MCT), an insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), or a gate turn-off thyristor (GTO).
