CHAPTER 2 MANIFESTATIONS OF DIVERSITY
In this chapter, we examine manifestations of diversity across etic and emic categories and simultaneous manifestations of multiple diversity categories. Etic categories of diversity are the ones which are commonly covered in studies of diversity, such as gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class and disability. We focus in this chapter on the manifestation of those etic categories of diversity which are widely recognised and regulated worldwide. The chapter also explores manifestation of emic categories, which are specific to local settings, such as accent diversity, caste- and tribe-based diversity and other categories which are idiosyncratic to specific locations. ...
