Intake Modification
There are many aftermarket parts designed to make the intake system less restrictive. Heavily modified engines may have every part of the intake system replaced with high-performance pieces in a quest for more power. Some of the parts can be replaced with few trade-offs other than possibly more noise. Other parts may affect drivability, making the engine idle poorly or making the throttle control less precise. These compromises are more likely to happen on cars that use carburetors, but in some cases a fuel-injected car may not be quite as docile if it has aggressive intake modifications.
