Brake Rotors

There are several ways to make brake rotors either heat up more slowly or shed heat faster. The simplest way to make rotors heat up more slowly is to make them bigger. The more metal you have, the more energy you need to raise its temperature. If you placed a piece of very thin sheet metal on your stove and turned the burner to High, it would be glowing red very quickly. A thick cast-iron skillet, on the other hand, would take a longer time to get that hot. A larger rotor is the equivalent of the cast-iron skillet. Adding more rotor diameter will allow your brake rotor to absorb more heat and help keep temperatures under control. The downside is, of course, that these rotors are heavier.
