LIMITING DETAIL

To quickly cover an area without having to render specific details—which is a great effect for this Bull-mastiff’s short, smooth coat—you can use a technique called “block shading.” Simply use the underhand grip to fill in an area with solid tone, overlapping each stroke. Once you have done this, just smooth away any visible strokes with a blending stump and use tack adhesive to pull out highlights. For this Bullmastiff, the highlights will help define the short hair and visible muscles of this large and powerful breed!
