Compared to the history of IP protection in other jurisdictions, protection of IP rights in China is a relatively recent innovation, having been launched in the 1980s. Since that time, IP protection in China has evolved into a relatively comprehensive system, to a great extent consistent with generally accepted international rules. Notwithstanding the above, serious challenges remain to the implementation of such rules in China.
