What if you did nothing about digitizing your business? We all now know the many stories of great companies that went out of business because they did nothing, or they did too little. Nokia ignored the iPhone, Blockbuster ignored Netflix, and so on. But these are extreme examples of high-profile mistakes. Sometimes, the challenge is that we think we’re digitizing our business, but we stop short of optimizing. This is equally risky. Plenty of taxi companies built apps, and every hotel had a website, but they were nonetheless caught flat-footed by ride sharing apps such as Lyft and Uber, or by room sharing solutions such as Airbnb.
