Replication Topologies
As a general rule, every Domino server in a domain must replicate regularly with the other servers in its domain—if only to replicate changes in the central shared databases, including the Domino Directory (names.nsf), Administration Requests (admin4.nsf), and possibly others, depending on what services are running. Each server doesn't have to replicate directly with all the other servers. But each server must replicate with at least one other server, which in turn must replicate with at least one other server, and so on, so that all servers receive all changes in all replica databases.
