SSL Security in Domino and Notes
Domino servers employ SSL in several possible situations:
A public Domino Web server on which you run an e-commerce application must be able to prove its authenticity to total strangers wanting to buy your products on the Web site. This server needs a certificate issued by a commercial CA. The server typically doesn't need to authenticate the buyer. (It only needs to get the buyer's money.)
Another Domino server may permit your customers, suppliers, or business partners to use a Web browser to track the status of their accounts or various ongoing transactions with you.
