LDAP Directory Services
Beginning with R4.6, Lotus has made the Domino Directory (known in 4.6 as the Public Address Book) accessible to non-Notes clients by incorporating the Internet standard Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) into the Domino server. Domino R4.6 supports LDAP Version 2. Domino R5 supports LDAP versions 2 and 3.
When the LDAP service is running on a Domino server, you are publishing selected contents of one or more Domino Directories to LDAP clients and other LDAP servers. This can benefit your users in a variety of ways. A few examples are the following:
