For decades, we have dedicated ourselves to helping others develop practical skills to fulfill their purpose and inspire those around them to succeed. This book boils down the fundamental leadership skill set to “eight essentials.” Though we've worked mostly with business clients in our professional lives, we have come to realize that these eight essentials are important in all areas of our lives. We have come to understand that everyone is a leader. We now realize that leadership is not about the nameplate on your office door. It is about how you inspire others to do good, whether on the job, at home, or in your community. Everyone has an opportunity to influence others to make a positive difference. The eight essentials are tools you can use, not just in your professional life but anywhere people need you.
Examining our personal and professional lives, we are convinced that the eight essentials are fundamental skills for everyone who wants to make the world a better place, not just traditional business leaders.
As we complete this book, among the most disturbing global challenges we face include a war on the European continent and a deadly pandemic.
