Blogging for Prospects
In October 2003, I launched MLMBlog.net, the first weblog with content related to the network marketing industry as a whole. At the time, there were a handful of blogs related to specific companies, most of them skewed toward bad personal experiences. When I launched MLMBlog.net, I had no real goal of creating a site that attracted thousands of daily visitors or a site that would dominate the search engines for important industry keywords. In fact, my first goal was simply to see if I could get someone to read what I wrote. I figured that if I could get one person to read my blog, I might have a chance to relate to that person and perhaps we would share something in common.
Using a blog for business was a complete shot in the dark for a couple of reasons. First, early bloggers generally seemed to frown upon blogging for business and utilizing advertising. Second, no one had really figured out how to turn blog visitors into customers.
There is still a very fine line between providing readers with quality content and promoting a business.
There should be no secret that in today’s day and age, having a web presence is an absolute necessity. I believe that setting up a blog is the easiest way to get up and running online in a professional manner for very little cost.
