Videos are a great way to build trust and influence on a mass scale. People who watch videos on a blog or through an e-mail list often feel like they know the creator of the video because they have enjoyed the value and the time spent together. The other wonderful advantage of creating videos is their inherent ability to rank highly in search engines. A little known fact is that YouTube is actually the second largest search engine online, with Google holding the number one spot.
Google actually owns YouTube, so there might be some correlation between ranking highly on YouTube and ranking highly on Google. YouTube is currently ranked third in overall web traffic after Google and Facebook, and it is only one of many video sites online. YouTube is far and away the top video website, with an estimated 450 million monthly unique visitors, but other highly ranked video sites include Hulu, DailyMotion, Metacafe, MegaVideo, MySpace Video, Yahoo! Video, and Vimeo.
In addition to generating search engine traffic and building trust, there are a lot of other great reasons to consider using videos as part of your online marketing strategy:
