When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

If you heed the call of the fantastic, look for the unbelievable in the most mundane things around you. Take a sketchbook everywhere. Draw your friends; people on the bus; animals at the zoo; that crazy creature with an elephant’s ears, ram’s horns, and a horse’s tail on a wolf’s body that you swear you saw out of the corner of your eye. How does your subject fit together? How does it move? What does it do in its environment? Consider the answers to these questions, and you’ll find ways to make that crazy critter look mighty convincing when you put it down on paper.
Don’t be dismayed when things don’t work out. Sometimes you have to make some mistakes before you find what works for you. That’s the funny thing about art—it works ...
